Stars Sparkled at The VMAs

The MTV Video Music Awards was a night to remember with spectacular acts and awards galore.

The evening was hosted by LL Cool J and featured a line-up up of who's who.

One of the highlights was Mariah Carey accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. It was presented to her by Ariana Grande, and apparently, the moment was a full-circle homage because she bestowed the same honour on LL Cool J back in 1997.

Mariah also walked away with her very first Moon Man for Best R&B Video for her new track ‘Type Dangerous’.

When she received her trophy, she said: “What in the Sam Hill were you waiting for?”

She also paid a heartfelt tribute to MTV and her fans and put her all in a performance the audience will soon not forget.

She opened with her new single ‘Sugar Sweet’ dripping in a sparkling gold bodysuit and diamonds worth $10 million. She also performed a medley of her hits like ‘Fantasy’, ‘Honey’, ‘Obsessed’, ‘Heartbreaker’, and ‘We Belong Together’.

Aside from Mariah, who was on fire, the list of winners was iconic.

Lady Gaga received four awards, including Artist of the Year and Best Collaboration for ‘Die with a Smile’ with Bruno Mars. She thanked her fans, which she calls her Monsters, and her fiancé for all the support before heading to perform her Mayhem tour at Madison Square Garden.

Ariana Grande won Video of the Year and Best Pop Video for ‘Brighter Days Ahead’. While Sabrina Carpenter clinched Album of the Year (Short n’ Sweet) and Best Pop Artist. She too thanked fans and said how she is grateful for them listening to her albums, even of it was the 29 albums she has in her repertoire.

Tate McRae won Song of Summer and Best Editing for ‘Just Keep Watching’. She also put on one heck of performance with her unique moves and style. Tyla took home another Moon Man and gave a shout out to Africa. It was for Best Afrobeats Video for ‘PUSH 2 START’.

Other winners included Doechii for Best Hip‑Hop, Shakira won Best Latin, Coldplay took the Best Rock award, Blackpink was named Best Group, and Sombr claimed Best Alternative and entertained the audience too.

Ricky Martin received the inaugural Latin Icon Award and got everyone dancing when he performed his hit la Vida Loca! Busta Rhymes also walked away with the Rock the Bells Visionary Award.  It was a vibrant event full of music and joy.
